Gaz Brookfield

I`m a singer/songwriter from Swindon, but currently residing in Bristol.

Since 2001 (ish) I`ve been in various bands including Kickout, British Beef and Durera. I`ve had the pleasure of sharing the stage in that time with the likes of Whitmore, Capdown, UK Subs, Long Beach Short Bus (ex Sublime), Reuben, Babyshambles, Viking Skull, Good Charlotte, Jesse James, The Mooney Suzuki and I Am Kloot.

In 2006 I went full time with the solo stuff. Since then I feel very fortunate to have played with artists such as Newton Faulkner, Frank Turner, Nik Kershaw, Nigel Clark (Dodgy), Mark Morris (Bluetones),Pete Doherty, Oxygen Thief, Ben Marwood, Jim Lockey, Buswell, Si Hall, Tommaso Galati, My Name Is Ian, Zoe Mead, Clayton Blizzard and many more.

Right, that`s all the history and name dropping done. Now a bit about me and my songs. I suppose you could say I`m a folk musician. Although not in a traditonal way, maybe more nu-folk or anti-folk or something like that. I like to think my songs are instantly accesible, played in a folk-ish style with occaisional use of the guitar as a percussive tool, as well as some two handed venturing around the fretboard. I write songs about whatever I happen to be thinking about at that moment. I can`t write songs about things I haven`t done or emotions I haven`t had. I love my friends like family, and my family like my closest friends. I`m physically repulsed by velvet. I really like rollercoasters!

My new EP, "Nine Dart Finish", is available as a free download on Last.fm, or on cd from me at a one of my gigs. If you would like to book me for a gig, be it a pub, club, house party, or whatever, please contact me through myspace, or email me at gaz.brookfield@googlemail.com.

Miquid Licks

This is a brand new band for 2010 formed by pianist and composer Rupert Leighton. After several years of playing live as a solo act and with other bands, Rupert decided it was time to do his music justice and take it to the stage with a new live outfit. His first two albums both achieved radio airplay and critical acclaim around the world, having been described as `the funkiest keys player you will hear anywhere` by Smooth jazz therapy UK and by Jazz review.com as `stretching the boundaries of contemporary jazz with music that has never been arranged quite like this before`. His third album `Utter Karma` is out now.

Joining Rupert is Katie Marie on bass. Katie has been in love with music from the tender age of 6. She originally started on the piano but when she turned 17, Katie decided to turn her hand to bass guitar. Since then she`s played with many well known artists from around the UK in a huge variety of genres. Katie also writes and performs her own music and she has completed 3 successful tours of Germany. Career highlights include: Gigging @ The Acoustic Village (Wickerman Festival), Cheltenham Jazz Festival, Liverpool Blues & Roots Festival, The Glee Club Birmingham, The Tobacco Factory Theatre Bristol, The Stage Club Hamburg, Butlins Minehead (Summer Season).

On drums is Ian Evans. Ian started playing as soon as he could hold a pair of sticks and has never looked back! He studied music at Bath Spa, coming out with a BA Honours in 2008. He`s worked with many artists and bands, such as Jason Rebello, NYJO, Howard Beaumont and has had plenty of experience playing for musicals, orchestras and concert bands but his heart lies in jazz & funk.

If you want an all original, cool, funky, jazzed up, exciting musical experience, come and see us live
