Hailed as the `Jimi Hendrix of the acoustic guitar`, award-winning Forcione is considered one of the most charismatic and inventive performers to come out of Europe in recent years. He breaks the mould of most conventional, popular guitar sounds be it in the field of jazz, Spanish, African, Brazilian or improvised music. International tours have brought high critical acclaim from as far as Australia and Hong Kong to Russia, the Caribbean, USA and all over Europe.

His 16 albums have variously hit the top of UK and international jazz charts and he has shared the stage worldwide with some of the world’s most accomplished musicians (see below), double-billing with artists such as John McLaughlin, John Schoffield and Leo Kotke.

Born in Italy in a small village along the Adriatic coast, Antonio first drew public attention at 13 when he toured with his own band throughout Italy as a guitarist, mandolinist and drummer. He got a diploma in art and sculpture from the Art Institute in Ancona, and studied music in Rome (as well as mime) before moving to London in 1983 in search of greater inspiration.

“A performer of world class status ... forceful and with an enviable technique, he takes the guitar to new levels of expression combining its melodic powers with dramatic percussive effects. Forcione boldly goes where no guitarist has gone before and the results are quite spectacular ... miss him at your peril”. THE STAGE

Unable to speak English, he initially resorted to busking in the streets of London’s Covent Garden, and within 2 months he had won an award which led to a BBC television appearance before being whisked off to open for the pop group Barclay James Harvest on a major European tour for over a total of 300,000, people culminating in a concert at Wembley Arena. He never looked back.

He has performed in festivals and theatres from as far as Australia and Indonesia to the USA, Canada, Caribbean, Turkey, Lebanon and all over Europe, especially in France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and the UK. His festival appearances include Womad, Glastonbury, Edinburgh, Melbourne, Koln, Verona, Granada, Hong Kong Arts Festival, Singapore Arts Festival and the Machoire d’Or in Montreux amongst others, as well as most major International Guitar festivals.

“Forcione plays unstringed parts of the guitar other players can’t hope to reach” (The Independent)

Antonio’s constantly innovative approach to life have also led him to explore the realm of music comedy performance resulting in invitations to perform at comedy festivals throughout the world. He has performed with other comedians such as Boothby Graffoe, Django Edwards, Stephen Frost, Tanderika and Ursus & Nadeschkin, acted as musical director and performer for the award winning trio Ole, and formed the duo ‘Acoustik Maniaks’ with guitarist Neil Stacey, as well as appearing in variety shows as a Solo comedy artist.

In 2001 he won the ‘Best Spirit of the Fringe Award’ at the Edinburgh Festival with a resulting tour of Australia, doing both straight music and music-comedy. "After 100 years of guitar playing is there anything left to do? Forcione proves that there is. Not content to be just a guitar genius, he injects his playing with physical comedy of unparalleled ferocity. This renowned musical performer has changed the way we look at the humble acoustic guitar". (Three weeks)

Artistic, intense, and formidably inventive, Antonio is a performer of genuine distinction. Ever unpredictable, his is a celebration of the unexpected elements in life, a music of rare delicacy, humour and, not least, passion.

Toploader

The first chapter in Toploader`s history was extraordinary and helped them to reach dizzying heights. So, it seems the irrepressible forces of nature have brought the "Loader" back together again to finish what they started.

Formed in 1997, a bunch of young Eastbourne musicians swiftly rose from the ranks of the unknown to become one of Britain`s biggest selling bands.

"The thing about our home town, Eastbourne is you`ve got the sea and the downs and countryside so the chilled factor is quite high," says singer-keyboardist Joseph Washbourn, "So a lot of the lyrics are kind of coming from that perspective, either escapism or looking out to somewhere else.”

Local gigs saw them and their reputation develop at an exponential rate. The conspicuously curly mopped was the songwriter and the voice. Accomplished as a keyboardist, having been taught since the age of 7, there was plenty of soul in his vocal that came to the fore as well and made him the ideal frontman. He even had a suitable family history; an elder brother who passed his Zeppelin records Joe’s way and a mum who used to hang out with David Bowie when he was still a south London saxophonist called David Jones.

Even at their early gigs, they were always a safe bet for festival and stadium stardom. They had scale and confidence to spare and in 1998 Sony`s S2 signed them without a second thought. Paul Weller saw them play and asked the band to support him on his 1999 tour, where they sometimes followed Noel Gallagher.

Their limited edition introductory single `Achilles Heel` came out in May 1999 leading to an early appearance on TFI Friday. They took that momentum and toured incessantly. Playing at benefit shows in Kosovo alongside Travis and Stereophonics, blazing through festival shows at Glastonbury and Reading and, soon enough, grazing the top 40 with their accompanying single `Let The People Know`.

Garnering even more converts to their cause, the legendary L.A. producer George Drakoulias came in to produce the top 20 party anthem `Dancing In The Moonlight`. This was the band’s smash hit and remained in the charts for a month when it came out in February 2000.

A full release for the epic `Achilles Heel` then went to number 8 confirming Toploader as crossover stars. They recorded for Top Of The Pops alongside Oasis and personal favourites The Charlatans. The May release of their debut album saw reality trumping even their own innate optimism when `Onka`s Big Moka` went to number 5 and notched up Gold status after just two weeks.

By summer 2000, everyone was singing to their tune. Further gigs with Paul Weller at The Royal Albert Hall and their own slots at European festivals (including blissful Glastonbury and T in the Park appearances), all Joseph had to do was point the microphone at the masses and conduct. Even the half a million people about to witness Toploader on their 30 day Euro tour with Bon Jovi (including 2 shows at Wembley Stadium making them the last Brit band to play before the re-build) couldn`t ignore their presence. There was something special, natural, and meant to be.

The release of their debut album saw their optimism realised when `Onka`s Big Moka` went to number 5 and notched up Gold status after just two weeks. Their second album, Magic Hotel followed, hitting number 3 in the UK chart and providing the band with another huge hit single in ‘Time Of My Life’. They toured the UK for what seemed like a year!

At the end of 2008, at Dan`s stag do, the band met up for the first time in 5 years and found that the desire to play together was still there. A couple of phone calls and they discovered the demand was still there too. So here we are; Toploader are back.

MONSTERS OF CLASSIC ROCK brings together the cream of classic rock tribute bands in a spectacular live show. The 2010 tour features the dream line up of Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin, performed by Deeply Purple and Led Zep Too.

DEEPLY PURPLE are the UK`s premier Deep Purple tribute band, faithfully recreating the amazing, guitar thrashing, organ rocking, virtuoso live performances that in the early 70`s made Deep Purple the most exciting live band on the planet. Every facet of Deep Purple`s music is faithfully reproduced and there`s more – the bands mission is to go beyond the straight reproduction of the songs and tap into the energy and improvisation that made each Deep Purple live performance unique. It doesn`t get any better than this!

LED ZEP TOO brings you the very best of Led Zeppelin. The band have made a name for themselves with some stunning live performances based on their ability to be able to improvise… just like the real Zep. It will be loud and wild but they aim to play as many of the classics as they can fit into the set, leaving you breathless like Page/Plant/Jones and Bonham used to do. Plymouth Herald said "The self indulgent pompousness of the original live Led Zeppelin has been unchained and allowed to run amok"

The MONSTERS OF CLASSIC ROCK show: After a set from each band, the show culminates in a spectacular finale with both bands on stage together. Imagine Ritchie Blackmore jamming with Jimmy Page, Robert Plant trading vocals with Ian Gillan – Not to be missed!

Unbelievably, December 2009 marked the 30th Anniversary of The Jam album classic, ‘Setting Sons’. From The Jam gained an immediate reputation for the kind of incendiary ‘live’ performances that sealed the reputation of The Jam all those years ago and 2010 is looking like another very busy year for the band.

FTJ drummer Rick Buckler has now left the band, but Bruce Foxton was quick to acknowledge the bands’ debt to Rick: “Both Russ and myself are sorry that Rick has decided to leave. I want to personally thank him for the very special time we shared both on and off stage. FTJ will continue onwards”

The band will now include a Special Guest, founder member of BIG COUNTRY, MARK BRZEZICKI in place of Rick.

This line-up has already gained some terrific ‘live’ reviews –

“Brzezicki, Foxton and Hastings took things to new heights…” (Dundee Courier)

The Jam had amazing chart success with 18 singles and 7 albums to make the top 40 in the United Kingdom from their debut in 1977 to their break up in 1982. Their last 5 albums were all top ten hits and their last 8 singles made it into the top 10.’ Just Who Is the 5 O`Clock Hero?’ made the charts at no 8 as an import and remains the best-selling import singles of all time in the UK.

The Band:

BRUCE FOXTON is a part of the English Rock and Roll establishment. A musician (born 1/9/1955 Woking,Surrey) who is most commonly recognised as the bass player in legendary The Jam and Stiff Little Fingers.

In The Jam, he and drummer Rick Buckler were the driving force, power and rhythm section behind singer, guitarist, and songwriter Paul Weller. Bruce’s versatility is evident, taking lead vocals on ‘David Watts’ (The Kinks) and ‘News Of The World’, which was one from his own catalogue of o compositions. Foxton’s most notable work being ‘Smithers-Jones’, featuring bass/guitar/drums for the B-side of ‘When You`re Young’ and later reworked with strings for the ‘Setting Sons’ LP.

After The Jam split in `82, Foxton pursued a solo career. He had a hit with the single ‘Freak’ and collaborated with other musicians, until he got the call from Stiff Little Fingers` Jake Burns, staying with SLF for fifteen years, recording four albums, namely, ‘Flags and Emblems’, ‘Get a Life’, ‘Tinderbox’ and ‘Guitar and Drum’.

In 1994, Rick Buckler and Bruce collaborated on ‘Our Story’, a biography of their eventful and cherished years in The Jam. Bruce toured with Bruce Watson, Mark Brzezicki (Big Country) and Simon Townshend (The Who) in 2006 as The Casbah Club supporting The Who in the U.K and Europe promoting their new album ‘Venustraphobia’.

MARK BRZEZICKI is primarily known for his work with Big Country, and is a former member of the groups The Cult, Ultravox, and Procol Harum. He has also played with Pete Townshend, Roger Daltrey, Midge Ure, Fish, The Pretenders and many others.

With Tony Butler (of Big Country) he was known as ‘Rhythm for Hire’. Brzezicki left Big Country in July 1989, but rejoined in 1993. Big Country started gigging again in 2007, as part of their 25th anniversary tour.

In 2004, Brzezicki helped found a new band, Casbah Club, with Bruce Foxton and Simon Townshend.

Smash Hits magazine had a running gag in the 1980s wherein they referred to him as "Mark Unpronounceablename of Big Country". On Pete Townshend`s ‘All the Best Cowboys Have Chinese Eyes’ and ‘White City: A Novel’ albums there are joking references to the spelling of his last name…!

RUSSELL HASTINGS (born 6th July 1965,Sussex England) worked with Rick Buckler since November 2005. A musician/vocalist in his own right Russell has shocked audiences nationwide this year with his authentic and passionate interpretation in performance (vocals and guitar) of The Jam`s back catalogue.

Russell grew up on The Jam and this is evident in his attention to every detail, from the Rickenbacker to the Marshall 4x4 everything as it was and should be. Energy, pride, execution and dynamic delivery have created an anticipation for 2010 as he collaborates once more with Bruce as From The Jam.

Arriving on the back of punk rock and a gymnastic performance on The Old Grey Whistle Test , his first single, the half-spoken love song "Really Free" reached number 27 in the UK Singles Chart. It would be his greatest success for some time. The song earned him a five album deal with Polydor Records, who viewed him as a punk rather than merely an eccentric. His first album, recorded with Wild Willy Barrett, was produced by Pete Townshend but sold only fitfully. The follow-up singles fared no better despite some imaginative promotion, which included an offer for Otway to come to a buyer`s house and perform the single if their copy was one of the few from which the vocal had been omitted. Otway`s and Barrett`s only other UK chart success came in July 1980 with "DK 50-80", a modest #45 hit.

Turning solo, and despite poor record sales, his live audience remained loyal, due to Otway`s manic energy and the very real possibility of physical injury during renditions of songs such as "Headbutts". When his music career faltered, the resourceful Otway diversified by co-authoring a play, Verbal Diary . He created a role for himself playing a disorganized, likable twit, and by playing himself to perfection, he found other work playing the same character in commercials on the television.

His 1990 autobiography, Cor Baby, That`s Really Me (subtitled Rock and Roll`s Greatest Failure ) was a study in self-deprecation, and his touring continued to sustain him. Within weeks the book outsold almost all of his albums. In 1992 Otway appeared at GuilFest. In 1993 he was able to draw 2,500 fans to a gig in London and, in 1998, 4,000 celebrated his birthday with him at the Royal Albert Hall, coinciding with the release of Premature Adulation , his first album of new material for over ten years.
